Quick answer
The guides agree on one farm: Mission 28, "A Thousand Points of Light", replayed in Free Mission on the highest difficulty you can clear. PowerPyx calls it the single mission that pays the most, "hands down". It has lots of aircraft to shoot down, and you can rearm at the Cima Island airstrip as often as you like.[1] KeenGamer's platinum roadmap also says to farm Mission 28 for the 25,000,000 MRP trophy.[2]
A full campaign playthrough pays 3 to 4 million MRP, depending on how well you fly.[1] No written guide has published a timed payout for one Mission 28 run yet, so MRP per minute is not confirmed by a reliable source yet. Treat any per-minute figure you see with caution.
Before you can farm: the unlock order
- Finish the campaign once, on any difficulty. That unlocks Free Mission, where you can replay any mission at any difficulty you have unlocked.[1]
- For the best payout, clear the campaign on Elite. That unlocks Ace difficulty. Clearing on Rookie, Pilot or Veteran does not.[2] The steps are on Ace difficulty unlock.
- Pick Mission 28 in Free Mission. In Free Mission you can fly any plane you own and set its parts and weapons for that one mission. Campaign mode limits some missions to carrier-capable aircraft.[1]
- Finish the sortie. A farm run only pays when you complete the mission.[3]
How MRP is paid
- Per target, multiplied by difficulty. PowerPyx says you earn MRP for every target you destroy, with a difficulty multiplier from "x0.8 on Casual, up to x1.5 on Ace".[1] (The official name for the lowest setting is Rookie.[4] PowerPyx gives no figures for the settings in between.)
- The multiplier covers your time bonus too. PowerPyx says the difficulty multiplier applies to your destruction score and your time bonus, so grinding on Ace is worth it.[1]
- Rank matters. Power Up Gaming's farming guide says to aim for an S rank, take as little damage as you can, avoid deaths and avoid using checkpoints too often.[5]
- A checkpoint restart costs points, but a run still pays. PowerPyx says a checkpoint restart loses points in your mission evaluation, but you still get MRP even if you miss the S rank.[6]
- Lifetime MRP adds up across playthroughs. The 25,000,000 trophy "counts all money earned over all playthroughs".[1]
Mission 28 run plan
| Step | What to do | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Difficulty | Take the highest setting you can clear cleanly. Ace has the largest reported multiplier, but a failed or slow run farms worse than a clean clear one step lower. | The Click[3] |
| Loadout | Bring strong air-to-air weapons. The mission is packed with aircraft, including slow bombers. | PowerPyx[1], The Click[3] |
| Rearm | Land at the Cima Island airstrip when your special weapons run low, then go back in. You can reload there as many times as you want. | PowerPyx[1] |
| Side goals | Use the same runs for machine-gun kills and other kill-count trophies. | PowerPyx[1], The Click[3] |
A second view: Power Up Gaming suggests switching to shorter missions "for a higher MRP per hour rate" once you can S-rank them every time, and says first clears often pay bonuses.[5] It names no specific short mission, and nobody has published timed runs comparing it with Mission 28. Until someone does, the highest payout per run (Mission 28) and the highest payout per hour are not the same claim.
Our calculation: how far 3-4 million MRP per campaign goes
These figures are our calculation, based on PowerPyx's 3-4 million MRP per full campaign[1] and the trophy targets of 16,000,000 and 25,000,000 MRP.[1]
| Goal | MRP needed | Full campaigns at 4M each | Full campaigns at 3M each |
|---|---|---|---|
| Need A Bigger Bank (trophy) | 16,000,000 | 4.0 | 5.3 |
| MRP Aplenty (trophy) | 25,000,000 | 6.3 | 8.3 |
| X-40 Nightmare (one plane) | 1,000,000 | 0.25 | 0.33 |
| FA-36 Game (one plane) | 750,000 | 0.19 | 0.25 |
- Average per mission: 3-4 million MRP across 30 campaign missions[1] is about 100,000 to 133,000 MRP per mission on average. Mission 28 should pay more than average, but by how much is not confirmed.
- Ace vs the lowest setting: x1.5 divided by x0.8 means the same destruction pays about 1.9 times as much on Ace.
- Plane prices for scale: the 13 aircraft with a listed price on the community wiki add up to 4,080,000 MRP, a bit more than one full campaign. The X-40 costs 1,000,000 MRP and the FA-36 costs 750,000.[7][8] Every listed price is on aircraft tree unlocks.
Small MRP extras
- Training: PowerPyx says clearing a mission in Training mode is worth "an easy 1000MRP" on top of a trophy.[1]
- Wingman planes: extra copies of a plane you already own cost much less than the first one, so filling out Joker Flight is cheap once the first copy is bought.[9] See aircraft tree unlocks for the prices.
- Spend as you go: The Click suggests buying planes and equipment for your next goal as you farm, rather than saving up a big pile of MRP.[3] The trophy Patron of the Parts asks you to buy everything in the Aircraft Tree anyway.[1]
Online mode is a separate economy
ACE COMBAT ONLINE has its own progression and save data, separate from Campaign Mode.[10] MRP you farm in the campaign does not buy planes online. Online, your post-mission earnings depend on your overall mission rank, and the winning squadron gets more rewards.[11] Power Up Gaming's online tips: play as a pre-made group of four, and go for the highest clear rank and a team win for the biggest multipliers.[5]
Not confirmed yet
- The MRP paid by one Mission 28 run, how long a run takes, and MRP per minute for any mission.
- Difficulty multipliers for Pilot, Veteran and Elite. Only the two ends (x0.8 and x1.5) are published.[1]
- Which shorter mission, if any, beats Mission 28 per hour.
For score tips that also raise your payout, see S rank requirements. Mission count and lengths are on missions list.
