Quick answer
Ace Combat 8 launches worldwide at one moment: October 1, 2026 at 3:00 PM PT (6:00 PM ET), which is October 2 at 00:00 CEST and 7:00 AM JST.[1][2] Deluxe Edition early access started three days earlier, on September 28 at 3:00 PM PDT (September 29, 00:00 CEST).[1][2]
It releases on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam.[3] We found no official announcement for Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere, Xbox One, Switch 2 or VR. Details are below.
Unlock time in your time zone
Official sources give the PT, ET, CEST and JST times. Every other row is our calculation from the same moment, 22:00 UTC. For each city we used the time zone that applies on that date: daylight time in the US and Europe, standard time in Sydney (Australian daylight time starts October 4).
| Location (time zone) | Standard launch | Deluxe early access |
|---|---|---|
| Los Angeles (PDT, UTC−7) | Thu Oct 1, 3:00 PM (official) | Mon Sep 28, 3:00 PM (official) |
| Denver (MDT, UTC−6) | Thu Oct 1, 4:00 PM | Mon Sep 28, 4:00 PM |
| Chicago (CDT, UTC−5) | Thu Oct 1, 5:00 PM | Mon Sep 28, 5:00 PM |
| New York (EDT, UTC−4) | Thu Oct 1, 6:00 PM (official) | Mon Sep 28, 6:00 PM |
| São Paulo (BRT, UTC−3) | Thu Oct 1, 7:00 PM | Mon Sep 28, 7:00 PM |
| London (BST, UTC+1) | Thu Oct 1, 11:00 PM | Mon Sep 28, 11:00 PM |
| Paris / Berlin (CEST, UTC+2) | Fri Oct 2, 00:00 (official) | Tue Sep 29, 00:00 (official) |
| Moscow (MSK, UTC+3) | Fri Oct 2, 1:00 AM | Tue Sep 29, 1:00 AM |
| New Delhi (IST, UTC+5:30) | Fri Oct 2, 3:30 AM | Tue Sep 29, 3:30 AM |
| Beijing / Singapore (UTC+8) | Fri Oct 2, 6:00 AM | Tue Sep 29, 6:00 AM |
| Tokyo (JST, UTC+9) | Fri Oct 2, 7:00 AM (official) | Tue Sep 29, 7:00 AM |
| Sydney (AEST, UTC+10) | Fri Oct 2, 8:00 AM | Tue Sep 29, 8:00 AM |
That is why US store pages show October 1 while European and Asian announcements say October 2. The Steam US store lists "Oct 1, 2026", and the US Xbox Store lists 10/1/2026.[4][5] It is the same launch, not two different days.
Who gets early access
- Deluxe Edition digital pre-orders get 3-day early access, starting September 28 at 3:00 PM PDT on Steam, Xbox and PS5.[3][4][6][1]
- Buying during early access: if you buy the Deluxe Edition digitally between September 29 and October 2, you get a copy already unlocked for early access.[2]
- After launch: the Deluxe Edition stays on sale, but "it does not include the early access bonuses available with digital pre-orders".[7]
- Physical copies: Bandai Namco's June announcement says that in some countries, early access is "available with digital versions only."[8] For physical Deluxe orders, its US store says "We are unable to guarantee the early access duration."[9]

VR: in a June interview with TechRadar's George Yang, director Kazutoki Kono explained the trade-off. VR rendering needs one image for each eye, so the team weighed it against "the best possible flat screen experience". It decided to put resources into multiplayer instead.[10] TechRadar's own summary is that VR "isn’t currently on the cards for Ace Combat 8".[10] We found no official VR announcement after that.
PC or PS5?
We do not pick one for you, but these facts matter. The PC version needs a GPU with hardware ray tracing, an SSD and Windows 11.[4] Flight stick support also differs by platform (see HOTAS support). On Xbox, online play needs a Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate subscription.[5]
